Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, and Vince McMahon kicked off Monday Night Raw and announced the first ever all women's WWE pay-per-view.
1. FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY
While this is a historic moment for WWE, as everyone may know, other promotions have had all women's pay-per-views. However, this will be the first for WWE. Expect the WWE to outdo their competitors and put on a spectacular show.
2. MORE BELTS PLEASE!
While we are all excited for the all women's pay-per-view, we all have to admit there are just not enough women's championships on the roster to coincide with an all women's pay-per-view. There are only two championships on the women's roster. In comparison, in regular, male-dominated pay per views, there are two world championships, two mid-card championships, two tag championships and a cruiserweight championship. This means on any given pay-per-view night, we can see seven championship matches. While we on average get about five championship contests…at the big pay per views like WrestleMania all championships are usually on the line.
To rectify this, WWE should reinstate that Women's Tag Team Championships with the lineage of the previous women's tag team championship. History, tradition, and homage are so crucial in WWE. Reinstating the past tag championships will add lineage and pay tribute to the female tag teams of yesteryear like the Glamour Girls and the Jumping Bomb Angels.
Adding more championships will also add depth to the women's storylines. The struggle with the storylines of the women's division is that there are too many women and not enough championships. This means that women wrestlers are lost in the shuffle, with no direction, because they do not have anything they are fighting for. Adding the women's tag team championships and a secondary women's championship will fix this as it will give more women time to shine and purpose.
3. Finally, excitement, please!
While the women's division is more revolutionary than ever, I hope that the WWE creates excitement with this pay-per-view. Give the women better matches, stipulations and storylines that will leave fans wanting more. Please do not just through all of the women in a battle royal. The women's roster is so talented, and they deserve so much more. This pay-per-view should be the catalyst for the entire women's roster for the next year; not just a quick nostalgia run. Save the battle royals for the women of yesteryear but give the current women, i.e., Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Naomi, etc. a chance to redefine their character and set a precedent for the coming year. Something that all three of the aforementioned superstars are missing. Surprise us with winners and participants rather than giving us the same ole same ole. This is the WWE's opportunity to blow our minds with what the WWE's women can do. This pay-per-view should be a catapult for the women who have hit a stalwart on the roster and need a new career direction. Adding championships and strong storylines can do just that.
HBK came down to the ring first. The fans clamored to get pictures of HBK...to be honest I would be too. Shawn is still in great shape, now he is the heartbreak grandpa. HHH came out next with a mask on but without the fanfare I expected. He came to the ring pretty fast and it was a pretty basic HHH entrance. He does have new ring gear which is nice. The Melbourne crowd loved HHH. Kane then came to the ring. I love how his name shows up when he walks to the ring it's pretty cool. The Undertaker's entrance of course was epic. All you saw were phones everywhere as fans attempted to snap pictures of the Deadman. The Undertaker looked great in his entrance and brought presence and prestige to the night. (Except for the gray on the sides...Undertaker I never want to see a another gray hair on your head). Fans complain about the older wrestlers taking the spotlight but the Undertaker's presence gives a PPV that extra push that makes it a classic. The match was no disq...
