Survivor Series History: The Debut Of the Phenom #wwe #undertakerdebut #milliondollarteam #phenom #undertaker
Survivor Series is approaching, and this is very exciting for me. Why? Because Survivor Series is one of my my favorite pay-per-views of course. If anyone knows me they know the Undertaker is my favorite wrestler. Because of his dark presence, his cold calculated attacks, his seemingly imperviousness to pain and the fact that he is strong enough and bold enough to stand alone. Lets face it, the Undertaker made few friends on his way to super stardom. What does Survivor Series have to do specifically with the Undertaker? Survivor Series is where the Undertaker made his debut, although he had appeared on WWF Superstars on November 19th, this is his first on screen debut. Survivor Series 1991 took place on November 22, 1991. The Undertaker was part of the Million Dollar Team in a eight man elimination tag team match against the Dream Team. His manager was Brother Love, yes, the Undertaker had a manager before Paul Bearer accompanied the Phenom to the ring. The Undertaker debuted at Survivor Series 1990 (the year I was born) and shocked and scared fans immediately. He first tangled up with Bret Hart, but eventually made the first elimination of the match: Koko B. Ware . It was at this moment the WWE Universe took their first trip to the Dark Side. The Undertaker debuted in excellent physical shape and presented a new eerie kind of of offense. His offense was slow, cold, calculated and visibly well rehearsed. The Dead Man, a nickname the Undertaker would later adopt, also eliminated Dusty Rhodes. This alludes the caliber of superstar the Undertaker would eventually become. He eliminated two of the four members of the opposing side. After being eliminated, Dusty Rhodes began to threaten Brother Love and as the Undertaker attempted to save his manager he was counted out of the match. Eventually The Million Dollar Team, (Ted DiBiase, The Undertaker, and Rhythm and Blues (The Honky Tonk Man and Greg Valentine)) (with Virgil, Jimmy Hart, and Brother Love) defeated The Dream Team (Dusty Rhodes, Koko B. Ware, and The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart)). Although the Undertaker did not win the entire match and eliminate the entire Dream Team , which is what we all initially expected, he did prove that he would be a force to be reckoned with in the WWE. This match set the pace for the Deadman that we all know and love today.
