WWE Super Show-Down will take place in Australia this weekend. While many say that it is a glorified house show, I do not think it is. I think the WWE will use this show to lay the groundwork for Evolution, Crown Jewel, and Survivor Series while simultaneously building bigger storylines. For instance, there are rumors of Kurt Angle's return and Asuka and Dean Ambrose's heel turn.
This is an easy match to predict. Cena and Lashley will get the win here. This will likely be the show opener so John Cena can give a big speech welcoming the crowd and exciting them for the night's matches. This will be clear-cut and simple. Delighting the Australian fans while also showing Cena's dominance in his return.
Bobby Lashley and John Cena vs. Elias and Kevin Owens
Cedric Alexander vs. Buddy Murphy
WWE Cruiserweight Championship
This match is the biggest toss up on the card. While many fans criticize WWE Super Show-Down as a glorified house show; the WWE thinks otherwise. Historically house show wins and losses mean absolutely nothing within the overall storyline and trope of the WWE. There have been some predictions that no titles will change hands at the Super-Show Down. Cedric Alexander has been Cruiserweight Champion for some time now; the WWE may decide to produce a new champion to shake things up a bit. Plus, Buddy Murphy will be in his hometown. This will give the WWE great local press and will satisfy the fans.
The New Day vs. The Bar
WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship
Let's be honest, we all are going to enjoy this match. Both teams are comprised of phenomenal performers who are going to give this match everything they have got. However, the title switching hands here is not required. The New Day just got the gold, Kofi just broke a new tag team record, and the Bar recently picked up singles wins over the New Day. Although the WWE seems to be looking to have the New Day break the tag team record for most times holding the tag team championship; I do not think they will lose the belts at Super Show-Down. The New Day are one of the greatest tag teams of all time. In a time when the WWE plays hot potato with championships they not only are about to break the record for the most times as tag champions but also now are the longest reigning tag champions. The WWE will likely put them over in Australia; to get a big pop from the fans as I'm sure there will be many New Day fans in the audience.
Asuka and Naomi vs. The IIconics
This match will be very entertaining as Asuka and Naomi are some of the best performers on the WWE roster. The IIconics are rumored to be in the match for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship at WWE Evolution. Therefore, it is likely they will go over Asuka and Naomi. Naomi is rumored to be facing Melina at WWE Evolution so tag team championships don't seem to be in her future. It would be nice to have Melina run in and attack Naomi to build a feud for WWE Evolution, as the WWE is failing to build the anticipation for WWE Evolution. Plus, IIconics are in their hometown, so that will give another good hometown feel and happiness for the audience while also building up the IIconics as viable contenders for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.
Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz
This match should be a classic. The Miz has had Bryan's number for the last two PPV encounters. This should be Bryan's triumph in the finale. However, although the winner faces the WWE Champion; I do not think this will be the end of their feud. I expect the WWE Championship match to be a triple threat to add fuel to the fire. Maybe even a fatal 4-Way. WWE loves their Fatal 4-Ways. Despite the winner, I predict they both will be in the WWE Championship picture, however, Daniel Bryan the hero of the WWE Universe will likely get his revenge at WWE Super Show-Down.
Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair for the
SmackDown Women's Championship
This feud is getting so good, Becky has seemingly impressed management and has "grabbed the brass ring" that Vince McMahon so often discusses. Too bad WWE won't do a double turn to adjust the feud to match the crowd's reactions. I am so over Charlotte being WWE Women's Champion. It is just ridiculous at this rate she will be a 20-time champion before she retires. The WWE is now impressed with Lynch and Sgt. Slaughter tweeted how Becky was such an amazing heel reminding him of Roddy Piper. Expect Becky to keep the championship for a long time. SmackDown Women's Championship
AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe for the
WWE Championship
WWE Championship
Another feud with a lot of heat and passion. The rivalry between these two is the definition of personal. This rivalry speaks to everything we love about wrestling. It bends the PG era almost to it's breaking point. Joe is a true monster heel and AJ Styles is everything that a babyface is supposed to be. However, I believe the rumors. This match will be a double KO or count-out with no true victor. It seems the WWE isn't ready to pull the trigger on Joe's championship reign just yet. However, at the same time, this makes Styles look like a week champion who is unable to gain a victory over his foe.
The Bella Twins and Ronda Rousey vs. The Riot Squad
I expect the feud between Nikka Bella and Ronda Rousey to start here. Although the Bella Twins and Rousey will likely win the seeds of a Bella heel turn and feud with Rousey should start here. While the Bellas have their skeptics I personally am a huge Bella fan, especially Nikki. I am excited to see where her and Rousey's feud will go. Nikki is an excellent heel; she will show all the other women how it's done.
The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins) vs. Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler, and Drew McIntyre
This match is the clearest cut of the night. It seems highly unlikely the WWE would put over Strowman, Ziggler, and McIntyre. The Shield has both the Universal and Intercontinental Champion on their team. Now, I expect Brock Lesnar to make an appearance here; so that may factor into the match. Lesnar has a pending rematch and he will likely want to make his presence known in Australia. Plus, who would want to miss a big payday like this? There is also the possibility that Dean Ambrose will make a heel turn, however, it seems unlikely at this juncture. The WWE will likely wait until Survivor Series to turn Ambrose...if at all.
Overall, this show should not disappoint. As long as the WWE doesn't make any fatal errors; this card should give fans exactly what they want.
