Team Authority vs. Team Cena Line-up [Sheamus & Rusev] #wwe #raw #SurvivorSeries #SurvivorSeries2014 #Sheamus #Rusev #UStitle
We are just 11 days away from Survivor Series and I must say that I am pretty excited.
The WWE is doing a great job of providing enough twists and turns to keep fans interested. The Authority has been recruiting heavily for the upcoming Survivor Series clash. On the other hand, rebellious superstars have decided to join Team Cena hoping they can gain retribution against the Authority.
The truth is: None of the eight men that are participating the traditional Survivor Series style match have a legitimate connection to their teammates or a grudge with everyone on the opposing team. In other words, the teams do not make up complete factions that stand united outside of this match, (i.e. ministry of darkness, nexus, etc). Rather, the teams are comprised of separate rivalries, i.e. Sheamus and Rusev, Mark Henry and Big Show, and John Cena and Seth Rollins. These small rivalries are being combined to create one giant mega fight.
Starting with Rusev and Sheamus, here is my analysis of what the Survivor Series match means for each of these rivalries.
Sheamus and Rusev
To my surprise, Rusev defeated Sheamus for the United States Title. I am surprised in general that Rusev's rampage throughout the WWE has continued this long. I have not seen the WWE put this much effort into building up a superstar in a very long time. I still anticipate that Sheamus will defeat Rusev and regain the United States title.
Like Rusev, Sheamus needs as many wins as he can get under his belt. I do not think many more superstars' careers can take a loss to Rusev. After the emotional road to defeat that the Big Show and Mark Henry journeyed in their quest to take down Rusev, I honestly don't expect them to win anymore. [I am sad and disheartened that they both put so much emotion into a match they both had no chance of winning.] The fact that Big Show was supposed to be the World's Strongest Man's savior against Rusev and still was unsuccessful in taking down the Russian monster is embarrassing. I do not want Sheamus' career to take that kind of a blow. Multiple losses to a competitor like Rusev will make fans question Sheamus. On the other hand, Rusev can take a loss, considering he has already proven himself to be no one to play with. I believe fans will accept Rusev's loss as the inevitable.
At this time, I do not think the WWE is ready for Rusev to lose his first singles match just yet, therefore Rusev and Sheamus participating in the traditional Survivor Series match of Team Cena vs. Team Authority is the perfect stall tactic. This will keep the battle going without a definite winner and loser.
But, I do not expect Rusev to be a survivor in the Survivor Series match. He probably will lose by disqualification or count out [like the Undertaker at Survivor Series 1990], which will keep his record of never being pinned or forced into submission. If he is pinned, the WWE will ride his undefeated streak as a singles competitor.
Let's hope this rivalry is revisited after Survivor Series, I do not think we are ready for this to be over.
